WINNIPEG, MANITOBA, CANADA (July 26, 2012) By Brian Liskai- David Gravel is getting hot at just the right time. The Watertown, Connecticut driver scored his second career University of Northwestern Ohio All Star Circuit of Champions Thursday at the Red River Co-Op Speedway. Gravel benefited from cautions that fell at just the right time to keep him out of heavy lapped traffic. He led all 30 laps to continue his impressive runs as of late. Earlier last week he had back-to-back runner-up finishes with the UNOH All Stars. "The monkey is finally off my back. It's been awhile since we won...late last year against the Outlaws," said Gravel beside his P&M Transportation, Musco Fuels, Model Crafted backed #89G. "I got through traffic well...when they came to me it was in the right spot on the track to get by." Former UNOH All Star rookie of the year Cap Henry, from Bellevue, Ohio, also continued his strong runs, as he would come home second after finishing third two nights earlier. The runner-up finish moves Henry into the lead of the $10,000-to-win Great Plains points and into fourth in the UNOH All Stars' national points. "The cautions fell perfect for David...he ran a great race. I got to him once when two lapped cars were racing, but the rest of the time he would have just one lapped car and it was easy for him to get by. But, A.J. (Havens), Andrew (Barman) and everyone has been working hard and it's good to reward them with another top three," said Henry beside his FK Rod Ends, GME Nields Steering, Lucas Oil, K&N Filters backed machine. Three time and defending UNOH All Star champion Tim Shaffer would run third the entire race. He too is getting hot when it counts, having scored two UNOH All Star wins, a pair of second place finishes, a third and a seventh in the last six races. "That red flag didn't help us. There was too much loose crap up top in three and four so everyone had to run the bottom and everyone ran the top of one and two. We will take another top three and go on from here," said Shaffer beside his Aaron Call/Janet Holbrook Motorsports, Kistler Engines, VRP Shocks backed #83. Gravel and Henry would bring the field to the green of the 30-lap feature. Gravel would fly into the lead with Gravel, fourth-starter Shaffer, fifth starter Blaney and third starter Lou Kennedy in tow. Roger Darge would flip violently off turn two on lap 11, necessitating a lengthy open red while repairs were made to the fencing. A lap later, Cory Mack would also take a nasty flip down the back stretch. When the green reappeared, the top five would stay Gravel, Henry, Shaffer, Blaney and Kennedy. With nine laps remaining, eighth place running Paul McMahan would stop on the front stretch with mechanical problems, ending his run. When the green came back out, the race would not see another stoppage. On the restart, Mark Dobmeier would get around Kennedy for fifth. When the checkered flew, it was Gravel, Henry, Shaffer, Blaney, Dobmieier, Kennedy, Casey Mack, Lee Grosz, Thomas Kennedy and Austin Pierce completing the top 10.
