PA Invasion Night 2: Rahmer Reigns at Lincoln Speedway |
|
Camargo, IL (5-1-10) – By Kelly Brown –Public Relations Director – In the second round of three, of the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions versus the PA Posse showdown, a second victory went to a Pennsylvania native as “Fast” Fred Rahmer lived up to his nickname. What appeared to be a three car race for the Checkered Flag turned into a single car chase as Rahmer went on to take the victory by 1.07-seconds over Aaron Ott.
Starting on the front row of tonight’s main event were Alan Krimes and Ott. When the Green Flag was unfurled Ott beat Krimes to the flag stand to lead the first lap of tonight’s race. Krimes would fall in line, but not without challenge from third and fourth place runners Kerry Madsen and Brian Monteith.
During the early part of the race there was only one caution flag for a single car spin, but up at the front the race was on as Ott led the event with Madsen and Monteith in hot pursuit. On Lap 17, Madsen would close on Ott and get around the 25 machine for a brief moment, with a move on the bottom side exiting Turn 2. As quickly as Madsen, took the lead he saw it dissolve as the 39 of Doug Esh came to a stop on the backstretch and the Yellow Flag flew. Since the lap had not been scored, the running order was reverted to the previous lap and Ott was placed back into the lead.
On the restart, Ott and Madsen picked up where they left off while Rahmer, Montieth, and Krimes fought for position in the top-five. With just six laps to go Madsen would get high in Turn 4 and spin, collecting fourth place running Montieth in the process.
On the final restart, Rahmer was all over Ott with Krimes, Stevie Smith and Mark Smith rounding out the top-five. With the Green flag in the air, Rahmer stalked Ott through turns one and two and then down the backstretch. At this point, Rahmer made his move. In turn 3 Rahmer pulled to the side of Ott and executed a slide job exiting the fourth turn to take the lead.
"I saw we were coming up on those lapped cars and I was just trying to go to the bottom and see if I was going to be able to do anything," said Rahmer about the late-race Madsen spin, "Kerry's car was operating good because he was able to run at high speed getting through three and four through the middle. Then I started going there and got the wing back a little bit further and it locked down pretty good."
Rahmer would not look back as he would go on to lead the last five laps of the 30-lap A-main. Ott would go on to finish in the second position with Stevie Smith, Alan Krimes and Mark Smith rounding out the top-5.
"We got lucky there at the end," continued Rahmer, "We were a third place car. I'll tell you what...that Aaron Ott is doing a hec of a job. It's an awful tough thing to do to try and go in and do a flyer on one of your best friend's sons. I'm just glad to win. I want to thank Chad and Jen Clemens and all the sponsors on this car. It just feels good to win." With one night to go who will capture the next round of the All Star invasion of the Keystone State? PA Invasion Night 1: Dewease Dominates at Williams Grove |
|
Camargo, IL (4-30-10) – By Kelly Brown –Public Relations Director – Leading a race from wire-to-wire is quite an accomplishment, especially when you are racing at a track with fierce competition like at Williams Grove Speedway. When the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions faced off against the Pennsylvania Posse tonight, Lance Dewease did just that. In a race that only saw one caution flag, Dewease was on a different level from his fellow competitors from the time the Green Flag flew.
As a result of the re-draw, Dewease was lucky and pulled the ace, giving him the pole position. When the field came to the green, Brian Monteith was by his side, but not for long. With a strong start Dwease would lead the fist lap and quickly dash out to a sizable lead. Behind him would be Monteith, Kerry Madsen, Alan Krimes, and Brian Leppo. On Lap 3, Madsen would take the second position away with a daring move on the outside.
By the time the field had made their sixth revolution of the circuit, Dewease had pulled out to a straightaway lead and the field had settled down into his tire track. It would take until Lap 10 for him to encounter lapped traffic and when he did, it was three-time All Star Champion Dale Blaney who was fighting to stay on the lead lap. Dwease would make a move to get around Blaney after a hard battle and set sail.
By the midway point of tonight’s main event, Dwease was clearly in command leaving the rest of the field to battle for position. In traffic, Montieth and Madsen would fight tooth-and-nail for the second position. On Lap 22, Monteith would claim the second spot using a lapped car as a pick. Behind them, Stevie Smith was on the move moving into the top-four.
The one and only caution period of the night would happen on Lap 24, when the 15 of Adam Wilt slowed and came to a stop underneath the bridge on the backstretch. On the restart, several lapped machines were between the lead lap cars. Dewease would easily jump out into the lead with Madsen and Montieth swapping the second position yet again. At this point Smith made his presence known as he stole third with just three laps to go. Montieth would slip and fall back to fourth, but with just a few laps remaining he wanted more and retook the third position.
When the White Flag was unfurled, Montieth was on a mission. Dwease would easily pick up the Checkered Flag, but behind him the drag race to the finish line was on. Madsen had the position and Montieth wanted it. At the line Montieth would edge Madsen by just a few inches, while Smith and Krimes would round out the top-five.

Reed Reigns in HD Supply Spring Nationals at Attica Raceway Park |
Camargo, IL (4-10-10) – By Kelly Brown –Public Relations Director – When race action began for the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions in the HD Supply Spring Nationals no one could have predicted what an action packed night it would turn out to be. At the end of the night, it would be Byron Reed who would reign supreme and survive an evening that turned out to be survival of the fittest to collect his All Star win.
On the front row of tonight’s A Main were Jody Keegan and Rob Chaney. At the drop of the green flag, Keegan jetted out into the lead and established himself in the top spot by turn two on the opening lap. Behind him, the race was four-wide for the second position. When the dust settled Byron Reed took over second, leaving Cap Henry and Dale Blaney to battle for third. The first caution of the night came out with two laps scored for Duane Zablocki who was running in the top-ten when he spun off of Turn 4.
Keegan led the field to the restart with Reed, Henry, Blaney and Chaney in the top-five. Behind Keegan, the fight was on for second as Henry tried to work on Reed for the spot, but got high and fell back. Blaney saw the bobble and challenged Henry for the position. The racing action would be disrupted again on Lap 3 as Zablocki got high once again in Turn 4 and ended up on his side.
When the green flag flew again, the battle was on for second as Henry battled Reed for it. As they fought Blaney caught the two and they went three wide for second. The action was fast and furious as the top-four continuously changed position. That was until heartbreak hit as Jody Keegan got high on the racing surface and went over the cushion in Turn 4, and brought out the yellow flag.
As a result Reed inherited the lead, with Blaney, Chaney, Henry, and Danny Smith in the top-five. On the restart, Tim Shaffer made his move into the top-five from his ninth place starting position. On the following lap, Shaffer split Henry and Smith whom he had been battling to take over the fourth position. The racing action would be slowed again with a second red flag brought out by Travis Philo who flipped in Turn 4.
On the restart, Shaffer grabbed the third position when he dove under Chaney to take the spot. On Lap 14, the next caution flag flew as Zablocki had trouble in the fourth turn for the third time this evening. On the restart, it was Reed up front with Blaney, Shaffer, Chaney and Smith in the top-five. It did not take long for Smith to get under Chaney to take the fourth position away. At this point Smith battled Shaffer for third, but the Steel City Outlaw held on to the position.
At the halfway point of the race Reed was beginning to encounter lapped traffic for the first time tonight. Blaney began to close in on Reed in traffic at first, but as the green flag run went on Reed was able to open up a half-a-straightaway lead over Blaney. A caution flag on Lap 26 would slow racing action again as Chris Andrews came to a stop between turns 3 and 4. This allowed Blaney to restart with only two lapped cars between him and the lead.
When racing action resumed it only took two laps for Blaney to get past the lapped cars and he set off driving in Reed’s tire tracks trying to hunt him down. Another yellow with nine laps to go for Jody Keegan when he went over the cushion in turn 4 would bunch the field. On the restart, there was a five car melee on the front stretch that left Henry and Dean Jacobs upside down at the start-finish line. Randy Hannagan, Brandon Martin and Lee Jacobs were also involved in the incident.
On the final restart of the night, Reed got out to a commanding lead leaving the rest of the top-five to battle for position. With five laps to go Reed started encountering traffic again, but the laps were winding down. Once again Blaney was able to close on the leading car, but time ran out. Reed would go on to take the checkered flag with Blaney, Shaffer, Smith, and Chaney rounding out the top-five.
There were several drivers who made big moves through the pack tonight gaining ten or more spots. They include: Greg Wilson who started eighteenth and finished sixth, Craig Mintz who started sixteenth and finished seventh, Randy Hannagan who started nineteenth and finished ninth, Mike Linder who started twentieth and finished tenth, and last but not least, the biggest mover of the night was Phil Gressman who started twenty-fourth and finished eighth.
The O’Reilly Circuit of Champions will be back in action starting on Friday, April 30th when the All Stars take on the Posse at Williams Grove. After the Grove the All Stars will go on to race at Lincoln Speedway on Saturday, May 1st and Big Diamond Speedway on Sunday May 2nd. “King of Bulls Gap” Jason Meyers Takes Night Two at Volunteer Speedway |
|
Camargo, IL (3-20-10) by Kelly Brown – Public Relations Director – In Spain they may have the “running of the bulls,” but tonight the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions had their own running of Bulls Gap. In the second night of Kasey’s King of Bulls Gap presented by Budweiser, a co-sanctioned event with the O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions and World of Outlaws, Jason Meyers outran Lance Dewease and Brad Sweet to celebrate in Victory Lane. Starting on the front row of the main event was dash winner Craig Dollansky and Lance Dewease. When racing action took center stage, Dewease shot out to an early lead, leaving Dollansky and Jason Meyers to battle for second. It did not take long for Meyers to pull to the inside of Dollansky and take the second spot away. The first caution flag of the night flew on lap 4 when Daryn Pittman, Cale Conley, and Terry McCarl tangled in turn 4. When racing action resumed the red flag came out almost instantly as there were two different flips on the track. Joey Saldana, last night’s winner and Tim Kaeding, both ended up on their wings, but walked away from the incidents. When the cars got rolling again, third place running Dollansky pulled off the track with mechanical difficulties. When another restart was attempted, a four car melee ensued. In turns 3 and 4, Kraig Kinser, Sam Hafertepe, Lucas Wolfe, and Cap Henry spun to a stop. When the race got back underway Meyers took center stage, battling Dewease for the lead, but Dewease held on to it. Brad Sweet immediately closed on the 14. With ten laps in the book, Dewease was in the lead with Meyers, Sweet, Tim Shaffer, and Steve Kinser in tow. At this point of the evening Meyers took the spotlight in traffic. As the top-three were battling nose-to-tail in traffic, Meyers was able to get by Dewease to establish himself in the top spot on lap 14. At this point Meyers pulled away leaving Sweet in pursuit of Dewease. Sweet would get on the inside of Dewease, but was not able to execute the pass. At the half-way point of tonight’s race, the real race was for who would finish in the top-five. Kinser and Shaffer traded fourth back and forth before Kinser took it and started to close on Sweet. Shaffer would battle back catching Kinser and pulling to his side, but was not able to get past. With ten laps left, Paul McMahan made his bid to finish in the top five when he got around Shaffer. McMahan quickly caught Kinser and took over the fourth position. With three laps to go there was a sense of desperation as Meyers had pulled out to over a three second lead. The battle for second was on as Sweet pulled to the inside of Dewease, but once again the 30c was too strong. With the checkered flag in the air, Meyers took the win with Dewease, Sweet, McMahon, and Kinser rounding out the top-five. This was Meyers third win this season with the Outlaws and his first with the All Stars. Out of the full-time All Stars, Shaffer and Blaney represented the series well finishing sixth and seventh, respectfully. Also making the A main was Bill Rose, Rookie-of-the-Year competitor Cap Henry, and Greg Wilson. The O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions will return to action on Friday, April 9 and Saturday, April 10 when they invade Attica Raceway Park for HD Supply Spring Nationals. For more information on the event visit www.atticaracewaypark.com and for the most up to date information on the O'Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions visit www.allstarsprint.com. Top three quotes Race winner Jason Meyers – “Outlaws wins are always big. My guys are doing a heck of a job. It was a long ride to the hotel last night and a long ride back here this morning. We were really upset with ourselves last night. But these guys keep digging. We could not do this without everybody who helps out with the team and all our fans out there. Thank you to Kasey and Budweiser for putting this on. The track was one lane last night, but it was great tonight.” Second place Lance Dewease– “Like I said earlier, we switched cars after last night. We chased it all night. We got a little better, but still needed to improve. My hat is off to Matt Kramer. We are a one person crew and we had some help tonight. We were just hanging on the last ten laps. I think we cooked a fresh motor in there and were trying to save the tires. The track was taking rubber between three and four, and we just wanted to get to the end. Brad was pretty good last night in the middle stage. We were very fortunate to come home second. Thank you to the fans for coming out and supporting this deal.” Third Place Brad Sweet – “The car was awesome. We got going pretty good there. We gave Lance and Jason a run for their money there for a little bit. My car kept getting better and better there at the end of the race. It was awesome. A hat’s off to my guys who gave me a great car all weekend. Any time you can run with the Outlaws and have two top-five finishes, you have to be happy. I have to thank all my guys. It is a big team effort. We brought out four cars this weekend and they all ran up front.” |
